Welcome to the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Emory University. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is located at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston (Children's at Egleston). Children's Healthcare of Atlanta serves metropolitan Atlanta and surrounding areas with a population of nearly 6 million, and thus has one of the largest pediatric service areas in the country.Children's at Egleston, a freestanding 297 bed pediatric hospital, serves as the primary academic, research and teaching hospital for the system, and provides quaternary-level pediatric care for the children in the Atlanta metropolitan area. The hospital is located directly adjacent to the Emory University undergraduate and School of Medicine campuses. It is the home to training in pediatrics for Emory medical students, residents, and post-doctoral fellows, see also the link: Department of Pediatrics. Children's at Egleston manages approximately 220,000 patient visits annually and 75,000 Emergency Department visits. Children's at Egleston also features the Children's ECMO and Advanced Technologies Center which provides services including ECMO, CRRT and plasmapheresis to neonatal, cardiac and other pediatric patients.
